Iran and Russia Congratulate Iraq for Successful Parliamentary Elections
The Iranian embassy in Baghdad congratulated the Iraqi people and hopes for a government to form and work on boosting the political, economic, and cultural fields.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Iranian embassy in Baghdad congratulated the Iraqi government and people for the successful parliamentary elections, considering that the people’s presence at the polls is a representation of democracy and guarantees their participation and ability to decide their fate and achieve their demands.
The embassy stressed its continuous support of the Iraqi people in defending its sovereignty and unity and encouraged the development of the constitutional political process in Iraq which should lead to economic development.
Concluding its statement, the Iranian embassy hoped for the new parliament to form a government that will earn the parliament’s support and work on boosting the political, economic, and cultural fields, which will consolidate long-term relationships between the two nations and provide more stability and peace in the region.
For its part, in a statement published on the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website on Monday evening, Russia conveyed its high appreciation of the Iraqi government for successfully organizing and conducting pre-election polls.
The Russian ministry expressed hopes of a new government formation, and reiterated its continued support of Iraq to overcome the repercussions of the social, economic, and financial crisis, as well as to fight international terrorism, through creating multifaceted bilateral cooperation that benefits both parties.
