Syria's Electoral committee takes oath before legislative elections
Four days before the Syrian People’s Assembly elections, electoral center committee heads and members take their legal oath before sub-judicial committees.
Four days before the Syrian People's Assembly elections, heads and members of the electoral center committees in several governorates solemnly took their legal oath before the judicial sub-committees overseeing the elections.
Preparations for the elections have intensified as the Syrian government, in its session, deliberated on securing all requirements for the electoral process. Emphasizing coordination among various ministries and parties, the focus is on ensuring optimal conditions for conducting the elections and enabling citizens to vote effectively.
On Wednesday, Syria's ruling Arab Baath Party announced the National Unity list, which includes it as well as the parties of the National Progressive Front in the People's Assembly elections scheduled for July 15.
The National Unity List comprises 185 members, with 169 candidates from the Baath Party and 16 from allied Front parties. Among them, there are 22 female candidates from the Baath Party.
The Syrian People's Assembly consists of 250 seats, with 8,953 candidates vying for them, including 1,317 women.
The most recent legislative elections in Syria were held on June 19, 2020. The assembly currently consists of 250 members, with 177 seats held by the National Progressive Front and 73 seats for independent candidates. Hamouda Al-Sabbagh has been the head of the assembly since then.
