The Iranian army has completed more than 160 specialized drills during the recent Zolfaqar 1403 joint military operations in the south, according to a senior Iranian Army officer.
Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, deputy head of the Iranian Army for Coordination, told Press TV on Monday that the Armed Forces worked hard to achieve the drills' main goals.
The Iranian Army conducted the Zolfaqar 1403 large-scale military exercise in late February along the vital Makran coastline in the country's south, the Sea of Oman, and the northern edge of the Indian Ocean, stretching up to 10 degrees latitude.
With the theme "Stable Security Under the Shadow of Self-Reliance, Unity, and Power," the drills aim to assess a broad range of military capabilities, conveying a clear message that "Iran can secure its region without foreign intervention."
This comprehensive exercise, part of an annual series, enhances tactical coordination while affirming Iran's strategic autonomy in a volatile region.
The drills involved infantry, armored, and mechanized forces, air defense systems, unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs), unmanned surface boats (USVs), and air force strategic bombers for logistical support.
According to Sayyari, the maneuvers were held in a big area in front of a significant number of soldiers from multiple units with great mobility and diversified equipment.
He stated that despite all operations and many launches on land, air, sea, and undersea, there was not a single mishap throughout the drills, emphasizing the high precision and skill of the personnel of the Iranian Army in combat operations.
The officer stated that the Zolfaqar 1403 drills fulfilled their ultimate aim of strengthening Iran's Army's defensive and deterrent capabilities to meet any existing or future threat, adding that successful drills have improved the Iranian people's morale and made them aware of the Armed Forces' high level of preparation in the event of danger.
Iran's Armed Forces, with the support of the people, are always prepared to protect the country's territorial integrity and the Islamic Revolution, he said, adding that such capabilities will undoubtedly strengthen in the future.
