The Eqtedar (Strength) 1401 maneuvers will be starting on Wednesday in the city of Nasr Abad in central Iran, the maneuvers' spokesperson Second Brigadier General Amir Cheshak said.

"The military drills seek to evaluate and increase the level of readiness of the Ground Force's [various] units in the face of new threats," he said.

Various units coming from the Army's infantry, artillery, Army Aviation, armored, engineering, drone, airborne, and electronic warfare divisions, will participate in the drills, according to Cheshak.

The event assesses the ability of the Ground Force to mobilize its servicemen from different countrywide areas to the location hosting the maneuvers, he added, noting that it also seeks to increase the level of mobility possessed by the Ground Force's Special Forces and Rapid Reaction Brigades.

The Ground Force's Specialized Units will be training on implementing their creative indigenous tactics and various skills, too, according to the official.

Meanwhile, the force's professional brigades will be exercising the level of coordination among them in performing hybrid operations, he said.

As for the participating forces, they would try to manage the situation on the battleground based on the realities that have governed recent real-world battles, the official added.

Cheshak said that while the approach to be taken during the drills was practice-oriented, it was also offensive and defensive in nature.

The news about the drill came days after Iran equipped 51 cities and towns with civil defense systems to foil any possible foreign attack. The country's military doctrine provides that Iran would never be the party to initiate a conflict. However, the military said multiple times that it would deal any potential aggressor a far greater blow than the latter could have sought to afflict the country.

Earlier this month, The commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) revealed that Iran has the privilege of enough defense arms so that it is ready to respond to threats at any level.

Major General Hossein Salami described the development gained in the field of defense as "magnificent, authoritative, and deterrent," adding that it is in line with Iran's technological success at the global level and the disempowerment of the enemy's advances in the field of defense.

Salami stated that Iran has a wide range of diverse defense products and that the country is prepared to respond to threats at any level.

Back in August, the Iran Air Defense Force fired a warning shot at the US military MQ9 aircraft flying over the Hormuz Strait.

Iran downed an American RQ-4 Global Hawk drone in June 2019,  after it violated Iranian airspace and did not respond to warnings issued by the Air Defense Force.

At the time, Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of Aerospace Force, divulged that the air force had abstained from "shooting down another American spy plane carrying 35 people."
