Iran arrests members of network with links to MEK and French spies
Reports from Iran show that those detained had previously been arrested and released on a pardon from Iranian Leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei.
Iranian security forces announced that they arrested members of a network with connections to the terrorist Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MEK) as well as French intelligence.
According to reports from Fars news agency, those detained had previously been arrested, but were released following pardons by Iranian Leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei.
Last year, Maryam Assadollahi and Reyhaneh Ansari, among those recently detained, were arrested for cooperating with two French spies.
Other detainees have been involved in designing and coordinating chaos across workers' and teachers' gatherings by pushing these groups to riots against the Iranian government over allegations pertaining to the fake poisoning at schools.
Iranian TV is set to air confessions of the two French spies who had admitted to inciting riots earlier last year.
Those arrested most recently had gathered at the house of the former ringleader of an illegal trade union guided by foreign elements. The meeting itself was held under the guise of visiting prisoners' families.
Iran report details the gruesome crimes of rioters
Iran’s High Council for Human Rights (HCHR) published a report that detailed various instances of violence against Iranian security forces during recent riots in the country. The report highlights the role Western countries, their agents, and collaborators had in orchestrating and directing the riots through the promotion of propaganda campaigns that took advantage of Mahsa Amini’s death in September 2022.
Press TV had direct access to the 83-page report and revealed some of its details.
According to the report, rioters employed tactics of extreme violence against Iranian civilians and security forces. For instance, two students were stabbed to death by rioters in the city of Mashhad. In addition, 7,000 officers were injured in the line of duty during the riots, including some who were brutally murdered.
The report stresses the fact that security forces were instructed not to carry any deadly weapons or firearms, in an attempt to curb further agitation and provocation against the Islamic Republic. This opened the door for rioters to brutally torture and murder some security officers.
