The Iranian Foreign Ministry denied claims that were circulating in some Iranian news outlets regarding handing over the Afghan Embassy in Tehran to the Taliban.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh expressed that the diplomatic activities of the Afghan Embassy in Tehran, like all foreign embassies, are subject to the framework of principles and rules established in the 1961 Vienna Convention, and no external changes can be made.
Yesterday, the Taliban's Foreign Minister visited Iran for the first time since the hasty US withdrawal from Afghanistan.

The Taliban also discussed the refugees and the country's growing economic crisis.
Iran, like other countries, has so far not recognized the new government formed by the Taliban.
"The visit aims at discussions on political, economic, transit, and refugee issues between Afghanistan and Iran," the Taliban Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Abdul Qahar Balkhi said on Twitter.
