In a telephone conversation with his South African counterpart on Thursday night, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi commended the country's "courageous" decision to bring a genocide case against "Israel" to the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Raisi praised the African government's initiative and bold action in filing a complaint at the ICJ against the Israeli regime for its actions in Gaza.

“This measure, taken by a country that has experienced the bitterness of racism and genocide for years, has been hailed and applauded not only by the Islamic world but the whole free and freedom-seeking nations,” Raisi said.

Highlighting that "Israel" and its allies may attempt to divert the judicial proceedings in the ICJ case, he stated, "The humanitarian community and nations worldwide anticipate the court (ICJ) to administer justice and bring charges against the criminal Zionist regime."

Ramaphosa's name to be recorded in history

President Raisi reaffirmed Iran's backing for South Africa's courageous initiative, underscoring that amid the inactivity of international organizations regarding the Israeli aggression on Gaza, the name of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa will be recorded in history alongside Nelson Mandela as a prominent figure actively fighting against racism and advocating for justice on a global scale.

For his part, President Ramaphosa characterized Iran as a steadfast and genuine friend of South Africa during challenging times. He emphasized that his country's resolve to combat the genocidal crimes of the Israeli entity will not waver in the face of opposition from countries supporting "Israel".

Today, the United Nations will announce its decision on the request presented by South Africa to enforce emergency measures against the Israeli entity. The entity is facing charges before the International Court of Justice for genocide crimes in its aggression against the Gaza Strip.

The forthcoming ruling will center on the urgent intervention sought by South Africa to halt the crimes done by "Israel" against the Palestinians. However, it should be noted that the ruling would not delve into determining whether genocide has occurred.
