Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-e-Ravanchi stated that during the Iranian delegation’s meeting with representatives from the E3 in Istanbul, Iran’s priorities included lifting the "oppressive sanctions" and safeguarding its rights under the NPT, particularly the right to uranium enrichment.
As a key member of Iran’s negotiating team, Takht-e-Ravanchi attended talks in Istanbul with Germany, Britain, and France, the European parties to the JCPOA, and shared these remarks in a press briefing after Friday’s meeting.
The Iranian Deputy FM noted that the meeting followed previous rounds of talks, but with the key difference that Iran had now been attacked by the Israeli regime and the US, prompting the Iranian delegation to condemn the assaults as clear violations of international law and the UN Charter while also criticizing the E3’s stance on the matter.
He added that another key topic discussed was the reinstatement of sanctions and the snapback mechanism, with Iran firmly opposing these measures, while noting that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had sent a letter to the UN Secretary-General, which had been circulated to all UN Security Council members.
Earlier today, following the Istanbul talks, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi, one of the Iranian negotiators, stated that Iran and the E3 held substantive discussions centered on "specific topics".
On Friday, following the meeting in Istanbul, Gharibabadi posted on his X account that he and Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-e-Ravanchi had engaged in a substantive, candid, and thorough dialogue with the political directors of the E3 and EU.
"The latest developments regarding the issue of sanctions lifting and the nuclear issue were discussed and reviewed,” Gharibabadi added in his post.
