The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a statement on Thursday reaffirming Tehran’s consistent stance in supporting all initiatives aimed at halting the genocide in Gaza, ensuring the withdrawal of occupying forces, facilitating humanitarian aid entry, releasing Palestinian prisoners, and realizing the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people.
In the statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry recalled its earlier position issued on October 6, 2025, emphasizing that Iran has continuously backed every effort to end the genocidal war and secure the rights of Palestinians.
As a supporter of what it described as the legitimate resistance of the Palestinian nation in pursuit of self-determination, the ministry highlighted that Iran has utilized all its diplomatic channels, particularly through the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), regional diplomacy, and the United Nations, to pressure the Israeli regime and its supporters to stop the aggression and withdraw from Gaza.
The ministry also paid tribute to the “great martyrs of the Resistance,” stressing that the international community bears the responsibility to prevent the Israeli occupation from violating its commitments. It urged all nations to remain vigilant toward what it called the “deceit and bad faith” of the Israeli regime.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry further underlined that the end of genocide and aggression in Gaza does not absolve governments and international bodies from their duty to pursue justice.
It called for identifying and prosecuting the commanders and perpetrators responsible for war crimes, genocide, and crimes against humanity in Gaza, in order to end what it described as the decades-long impunity of the Zionist regime.
Ceasefire agreement reached
The ceasefire agreement in Gaza came into effect at noon local time, though Al Mayadeen’s correspondent reported that Israeli warplanes renewed their bombardment shortly after it took hold.
Meanwhile, Israeli Channel 12 quoted sources from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office as saying that “the ceasefire will only come into effect once it is approved by the government later today.”
