Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas announced that a delegation from its leadership, headed by the Chairman of the Shura Council and the head of the leadership council, Mohammed Darwish, received Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in the Qatari capital, Doha, for discussions related to the war on Gaza, regional and international developments, and their implications.

Hamas' leadership council chief subsequently stated that the Israeli occupation's acts in Gaza constituted an unbarred genocidal war on the Palestinian people, citing continued starvation, blockage of food and water supply lines, destruction of buildings, homes, and civilian infrastructure, and annihilating all forms of life, particularly in northern Gaza, which has been turned into a "ghost town".

The two also discussed the situation in occupied al-Quds and the West Bank, as well as the state of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons, touching on the outcomes of national meetings held in Cairo between delegations from Fatah and Hamas.

As stated in the statement issued by Hamas, Dawish emphasized that "ending the war and aggression is the main focus of any agreement," further clarifying that the Resistance movement is open to any proposals presented by mediators "that serve our people's interests and alleviate their suffering."

Darwish also stressed the importance of "intensifying support for our people in Gaza and thwarting the occupation’s malicious plans, executed through massacres, siege, and starvation."

Iran backs Palestine

For his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister reaffirmed his country's support for the Palestinian cause, praising the sacrifices of the Palestinian people and the steadfastness of their valiant resistance.

Araghchi stated that the Palestinian people "have set exceptional examples of steadfastness and sacrifice during this extraordinary war, presenting remarkable models of resistance worthy of achieving victory."

This meeting took place as Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi was in the Qatari capital, Doha, following his participation earlier today in an Astana process summit, aimed at examining the latest developments in Syria.

Qatar says concerned over Syria; Gaza deal gains momentum

Qatar’s Foreign Minister held discussions with his Turkish, Jordanian, and Iranian counterparts on recent developments in Syria, as well as the ongoing situation in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories, Doha announced on Saturday.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry mentioned that the conversations focused on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation, while also addressing the humanitarian crises in Gaza and the Palestinian territories.

The situation in Syria, which has seen advances by opposition militants against the Syrian Army in recent days, was also discussed.

Al-Thani expressed his country’s profound concern over the situation in Syria, emphasizing the need to protect civilians from the repercussions of the ongoing crisis, the Ministry said.

The top Qatari diplomat also revealed that negotiations aimed at achieving a truce and a prisoner exchange in Gaza have gained momentum following the election of Donald Trump as US President, adding that there is significant encouragement from the incoming administration to reach an agreement, even before the President-elect officially takes office.
