Iran reiterates its support for ceasefire in Yemen
Ali Asghar Khaji, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs, voices his country's support for the ceasefire in Yemen in a meeting with the spokesperson for Yemen's Ansarullah Movement Mohammed Abdul-Salam.
Ali Asghar Khaji, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs, expressed on Saturday his satisfaction with the ceasefire continuation in Yemen.
During a meeting with the spokesperson for Yemen's Ansarullah Movement Mohammed Abdul-Salam, the Iranian official hoped that the current ceasefire in Yemen would lead to an unconditional full-fledged ceasefire throughout the Arab country and would be a prelude to political dialogue in the country.
For his part, the Yemeni official appreciated Iran's political and humanitarian support for the Yemeni people.
Abdul-Salam presented a report on the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Yemen and the perspectives on developments in the country, and he reiterated that lifting the siege and committing to the cessation of hostilities by the other side are needed for the ceasefire to remain in place.
Tehran fully supports the armistice between Sanaa and Riyadh, which will lead to peace in Yemen, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said in June.
Khaji underscored a month before the importance of making efforts to lift the siege on the Yemeni people, ending the war, and starting an inter-Yemeni dialogue.
Last month, the Head of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council, Mahdi Al-Mashat, underscored the necessity for the Saudi-led coalition to end the war and siege on war-torn Yemen and highlighted the significance of a long-term peace accord that guarantees the Yemeni people's sovereignty and independence.
