Iran Resumes Export to Saudi Arabia
The spokesman of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Ruhollah Latifi announced two shipments of Iranian goods have been exported to Saudi Arabia.
After several years of suspension, Iran announced it would resume exports to Saudi Arabia on Sunday.
Ruhollah Latifi, the spokesman of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), reported that two shipments of Iranian goods were exported to Saudi Arabia recently.
Latifi hinted that the resumption of exports reflects the will of both nations to strengthen relations, which is a direct result of the latest talks in Iraq. He noted that although the shipment is not a large one, it is the stepping stone of cementing economic ties.
Recently, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh divulged that Iran has conducted several rounds of talks with the Saudi government in Baghdad during the past months, noting that there is serious progress in talks on Gulf security.
Tehran has repeatedly mentioned that Iran welcomes dialogue with Riyadh, and stressed the necessity of negotiations between Islamic countries to solve current problems.
Last April, in a television interview with Saudi television, Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed that "Iran is a neighboring country, and all that we are seeking is a good and special relationship."
