The Iranian Spokesperson for the maneuvers says the trilateral drills aim to consolidate security and expand cooperation between the countries.
The Maritime Security Belt 2022 security drills began on Friday morning.
The ground and air units of the Iranian, Chinese, and Russian navies are participating in the drills, which have been launched in the northern Indian Ocean.
The Iranian Spokesperson for the drills, Colonel Mustafa Taj Al-Dini, said that in addition to the navy of Iran, the naval units from Russia and China will also participate, pointing out that these are the third joint drills held between the trio, adding that they will continue in the future "together for peace and security, in an area of 17,000 square kilometers with a message of peace and friendship."
The Iranian Spokesperson explained that the drills aim to consolidate security in the region, expand multilateral cooperation between the three nations, and demonstrate goodwill and the ability of the three countries to join efforts in the path to world peace and maritime security with a shared future.
Marine Colonel Mertaj Al-Diny also stated that various tactical exercises are taking place during the drills, including rescuing ships under fire, liberating hijacked ships, shooting at specific targets, shooting at night at air targets, and other tactical and operational exercises.
He added that other objectives of the drills are to enhance the security of international maritime trade, confront maritime piracy and maritime terrorism, and exchange information in the relief and rescue, as well as operational and tactical experiences.
On Tuesday, the press office of Russia's pacific fleet confirmed the joint naval drills.
"In the port, the official delegation of the Russian Navy will take part in a panned conference to hold a joint naval exercise of warships of Russia, Iran, and China," the Fleet said.
