Iran's embassy in UAE denies involvement in murder of Zionist emissary
Zvi Kogan was found dead on Sunday after being reported missing on Thursday.
The Iranian Embassy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has released a statement categorically rejecting allegations of the country's involvement in the murder of Israeli emissary Zvi Kogan.
Kogan who was reported missing on Thursday was found dead on Sunday in the UAE, as Israeli officials rushed to claim Iran's complicity.
Since the UAE and "Israel" normalized ties in late 2020, Kogan has served as a representative of Chabad, a Zionist organization that allegedly provides services to Jewish residents and visitors in the Gulf region. According to Chabad, Kogan had also served in the Israeli occupation forces' 84th Givati Infantry Brigade.
"We categorically reject the allegations made regarding Iran’s involvement in the murder of this individual," the Iranian embassy said in response to a question from Reuters.
Meanwhile, the Emirati government said that it had arrested three individuals connected to the case, revealing no further details on the incident.
In response to the incident, the Israeli Security Council warned against traveling to the UAE, due to what it described as "a threat against Israel and Jews in the country," issuing a Level 3 travel warning, which means that all unnecessary travel should be avoided.
“Avoid visiting businesses, gathering places, and entertainment venues identified with the Israeli and Jewish population,” said the warning.
“Maintain increased vigilance in public places (including restaurants, hotels, bars, etc.). Avoid displaying Israeli symbols. Cooperate with local security forces, follow their instructions, and immediately report it if you have been exposed to terror activity.”
Travelers are also urged to avoid posting on social media and to lock their profiles online.
