Iran welcomes two-month ceasefire in Yemen
Iran's Foreign Ministry welcomes the announcement of a two-month ceasefire in Yemen.
The spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry, Saeed Khatibzadeh, said in a statement on Saturday that Iran welcomed the initiative of the two-month ceasefire in Yemen.
The initiative was made by the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, and comprises a two-month suspension of military operations in Yemen, and that the Saudi-led coalition's blockade would be eased so as to allow the entry of ships carrying food and fuel, and pave the way for a partial reopening of Sanaa Airport.
Khatibzadeh also expressed hope that the move would be a prelude to a complete lifting of the blockade on Yemen, and allow for the establishment of a permanent ceasefire in order to find a political resolution to the war on Yemen.

The spokesperson emphasized that Iran supports a political and humanitarian resolution to the war on Yemen, and said "We hope at the start of the holy month of Ramadan, through prioritizing humanitarian issues and continuing the ceasefire, we will see an improvement in humanitarian conditions and a full exchange of prisoners and detainees between the warring sides, and that this would lay the ground for the commencement a political resolution for the crisis."
