The Public Prosecutor of Tehran, Ali Al-Qasi Mehr, announced that 83% of the people who were arrested during the recent riots in Tehran province have been released.

The prosecutor indicated that the number of detainees in Tehran was very small, noting that among the detained were key elements and leaders of the riots.

Mehr highlighted that 2,239 judges specializing in riot cases, officials, and judicial force managers in Tehran visited prisons and spoke directly to the detainees in the past three months.

Earlier this month, the Public Prosecutor in Tehran issued prison sentences against 400 people for participating in riots.

At the time, he announced that 160 people in Tehran were sentenced to prison terms ranging from five to 10 years, 80 were sentenced to prison terms ranging from two to five years, 160 were sentenced to prison terms of up to two years, and 70 were sentenced to fines.

In early December, Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) assured that the police, security authorities, and the Popular Mobilization Forces (Basij) will continue to block the attempts of rioters and terrorists to disrupt the country's stability.

In a statement, the IRGC stressed that dealing decisively and swiftly with those charged with rioting, vandalizing, and terrorizing is now a general requirement.

It added that the Iranian people, with their awareness, will overcome and trump the last attempt at dividing the country, stressing that the Iranians will survive the war devised against them.

Iranian leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei and other high-ranking Iranian officials have considered that the recent riots that the country has witnessed are incited by Western countries who are angered at Iran's progress despite the unprecedented sanctions.

Tehran's Security Minister Esmail Khatib said last November that it became clear in the recent events that the Israeli occupation was responsible for implementation, the UK media was responsible for sponsoring, and Saudi Arabia was responsible for financial support.

On his part, Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi revealed in mid-November that the leaders of the recent riots in Iran received training in seven countries.

In late October, the Iranian Intelligence Ministry and the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps' intelligence wing revealed that intelligence obtained by Tehran indicates that the CIA and allied intelligence services planned a conspiracy in Iran against the Islamic Republic.
