Iran: News of Shamkhani Meeting Saudi Officials Not True
Media reports about a scheduled meeting between Admiral Shamkhani and Saudi officials have been refuted.
The Iranian NourNews website quoted an informed source in the General Secretariat of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council as saying that there is no truth to the news of a meeting between the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, and Saudi officials.
The source also refuted media reports about Shamkhani's meeting with the Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Adel al-Jubeir, in Baghdad.
Earlier this September, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh announced that in the past few months, talks with Saudi Arabia were in progress, describing the talks on bilateral issues as "good".
It is worth noting that Tehran has repeatedly stressed that it always welcomes dialogue with Riyadh and is ready to hold talks with Saudi Arabia at any level, emphasizing the necessity of dialogue among the countries of the Islamic world to solve current problems.
