Iranian FM asks Security Council to condemn Israeli aggression on Iran
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi calls for an immediate Security Council meeting to take a decisive stance against the Israeli regime's assault on several Iranian military sites.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi urged the United Nations Security Council to convene an emergency session to condemn the recent Israeli aggression against Iran.
In a letter to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council, Araghchi called for an immediate meeting to take a decisive stance against the Israeli regime's assault on several Iranian military sites.
The United Nations Security Council will meet on Monday to discuss the Israeli attack on Iran, Council President Switzerland said on Sunday.
The Swiss UN mission said the meeting had been requested by Iran with the support of Algeria, China, and Russia.
In his latter, the Iranian Foreign Minister condemned the Israeli attack as a blatant violation of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as a breach of international law, particularly Article 2 of the UN Charter, which prohibits the threat or use of force in international relations.
He pointed out that this act of aggression, coming in the wake of the Israeli regime’s genocidal actions in Gaza and its war on Lebanon, represents a significant threat to international peace and stability in the region.
While Iran's air defense systems intercepted most of the Israeli projectiles, the attack caused damage to targeted sites and resulted in the martyrdom of four Iranian servicemen, Araghchi noted.
Iran retains its inherent right to respond to this criminal act by "Israel", in line with the UN Charter and international law, the Iranian Foreign Minister underscored.
On Saturday, the Iranian Army confirmed that four soldiers were martyred while intercepting the projectiles launched by the Israeli occupation military toward Iranian territory.
The Iranian Air Defense also reported that in the early hours of October 26, "Israel" targeted military sites in the provinces of Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam, with air defenses intercepting the attacks.
Limited damage was reported, and the full extent of which is under investigation, it said.

Araghchi says US facilitated Israeli attacks on Iran via air corridor
Earlier today, Araghchi affirmed that the United States played a role in the recent Israeli attacks on Iran, noting that the US facilitated an air corridor for Israeli forces and provided defensive equipment prior to the aggression, which he views as a form of complicity in the attacks.
In a televised interview, the top Iranian diplomat asserted that Tehran views Washington as complicit in both the recent attacks and the ongoing crimes committed by "Israel" against peoples of the region, as these actions are executed with US weapons and political backing.
He emphasized that the collaboration between the US and "Israel" in escalating tensions in the region is glaringly apparent.
Araghchi also revealed that Iranian military and security forces are closely monitoring the movements of Israeli and US troops in the region.
“Our armed forces have conducted a thorough assessment and were able to predict the Zionist aggression in a timely manner, confronting this attack with full preparedness,” he stressed.
