Iranian FM in Oman bearing presidential message
The Iranian Foreign Minister meets senior officials of what he believes is the "epicenter" of regional talks.
Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian traveled to Oman for talks to discuss a range of regional and international issues with the nation's senior officials.
Upon his arrival in Muscat on Tuesday night, Amir-Abdollahian said he was carrying a message from Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. "Tehran and Muscat have always held mutual consultations on regional and international issues of interest," he added.
The Foreign Minister identified Oman as the "epicenter" of regional talks, saying Muscat always took on a "benevolent role" whether with regards to Iran or concerning the resolution of various regional crises, Press TV reported.
"Omani officials have invariably played a positive and constructive role in converging" various sides' views and also towards enabling them to reach final agreements, he said.
He described his visit as an opportunity to examine the countries' mutual affairs, and also a chance to asses issues "that have to be (addressed) at a faster pace."
The crises in Yemen, Afghanistan, and Ukraine were among the issues that were to be addressed during his stay in Oman, according to the top diplomat.
Yesterday, Amir-Abdollahian explained that the Omani leadership plays a positive and prominent role in converging the views of the parties to the nuclear agreement and seeks to revive the agreement, and is considered a center for regional dialogue on many issues, whether those related to Iran or the rest of the region.
The White House announced a few days ago that, "there is no current progress in the Iranian nuclear agreement, and there is no expected progress in the near future."
