Tehran hopes Riyadh agreement will increase stability, peace in region
The Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson says Iran has always considered interacting and cooperating with its neighbors as it is the best way to resolve regional conflicts.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Nasser Kanaani, welcomed on Thursday the support received from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for the recent restoration of diplomatic ties between Iran and Saudi Arabia on March 23.
"We hope that the agreement will play an effective role in increasing stability, peace, and regional development and strengthening dialogue-oriented approaches" in the Gulf Region, Kanaani expressed, in response to a GCC statement.
The Iranian spokesperson affirmed that Iran has always considered interacting and cooperating with its neighbors as it is the best way to resolve regional conflicts.
He pointed out that Iran welcomes positive initiatives in regard to developing relations based on international principles and rules.
The GCC issued a statement where it welcomed the agreement on the restoration of diplomatic ties between Iran and Saudi Arabia after being severed for seven years.
The statement referred to the agreement as a step forward toward resolving differences and ending regional conflicts and tension.

After seven years of strained ties, Iran and Saudi Arabia agreed on March 10 to restore diplomatic relations and reopen missions in respective countries after a series of talks brokered in Beijing, China under the auspices of Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday.
