Iranian intelligence capture 10 ISIS terrorists
ISIS terrorists were planning attacks during the holy commemoration of 'Ashura.
In a statement, the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence stated that terrorists had plans to carry out acts of terrorism targeting mourning ceremonies marking the commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, also known as 'Ashura.
“After its major failure in blowing up a sensitive site in the country via separatist terrorists known as Komoleh last week, the criminal Zionist regime sought to … carry out terrorist operations via its mercenary Takfiri-Daesh teams in mourning ceremonies marking the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS),” the statement said.
Iranian intelligence forces remained vigilant in their monitoring of mercenary activity, detaining the terrorists in two regions in the west and south of Iran. The forces confiscated all their explosives, communication devices, and weapons.
According to the statement, two intelligence ministry forces were wounded during the operations to capture ISIS terrorists, reiterating that the forces nonetheless are safeguarding Iran's security and peace 'powerfully and intelligently.'
Last week, the Intelligence Ministry released details regarding the arrest of the chief and members of an espionage network working for the Israeli occupation before they could carry out any operation.
In a press release, the Intelligence Organization of the Law Enforcement Command indicated that the network of five members was encouraged by a separatist leader to connect with Israeli intelligence, the Mossad.
According to the release, the network worked on collecting information about critical locations in Iran, as well as carrying out arson attacks and spreading propaganda against the Iranian regime.
Incentivized by the Mossad, the espionage network received enough training to carry out sabotage and armed operations before Iranian intelligence forces successfully took down their operations.
