Iranian Oil Minister: I Thank IRGC for Saving Oil Tanker from US Takeover
After a US attempt to hijack an Iranian oil tanker in the Oman Sea this morning, Oil Minister Javad Owgi thanks the IRGC for rescuing the tanker.
Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owgi thanked the IRGC on Wednesday for "saving the Iranian oil from the claws of the US."
Owgi thanked the IRGC for their bravery and vigilance, stressing that this incident further increases "our will and determination to serve the Iranian people and break the restraints of our enemies."
The Iranian Islamic Revolution's Guard Corps (IRGC) forces in Iran had thwarted earlier today an American hijacking attempt to steal a cargo of Iranian oil in the Gulf of ​​Oman, according to Fars News Agency.
Iranian state TV added that, in conjunction with this move, the IRGC carried out a landing operation on the US tanker, assumed control over it, and immediately directed the tanker towards Iranian territorial waters.
It detailed, "Following the incident, several US helicopters and warships tried to regain control of the tanker, but their attempts to change the tanker's course failed."
Iranian authorities confirmed that "the oil tanker is currently inside Iran's territorial waters," while several US naval vessels have again made greater efforts to cut off the tanker's path and change it, but they failed, noting that the US oil tanker is currently inside Iranian territorial waters.
