The Iranian police announced the elimination of a terrorist cell leader in Taftan.
The spokesperson for the Iranian police, Brigadier General Montazeri Mahdi, announced on Sunday that "the leader of the terrorist cell responsible for the attack on Iranian security forces in the Taftan area of Sistan and Baluchistan province has been eliminated."
The said attack had resulted in the martyrdom and injury of a number of security personnel.
He further stated that in the past 24 hours, "six individuals who assisted the terrorists have been arrested."
IRGC say eliminated terrorists during Sistan-Baluchistan drill
Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) eliminated four terrorists during a military exercise in Sistan and Baluchistan, southeastern Iran, Tasnim reported on Friday.
The operation, part of a drill codenamed Martyrs of Security, targeted groups that the IRGC claims were proxy forces for hostile entities.
General Shafaei, the spokesperson for the drill, stated that IRGC units, in collaboration with the Intelligence Ministry and local police, located eight individuals involved in these terrorist cells, resulting in the arrest of four and the killing of four others.
Among those detained was a prominent member linked to an October 26 attack on police in Taftan, which killed 10 servicemen.
The IRGC's efforts yielded a cache of weapons and ammunition and utilized advanced combat drones and updated tactical approaches.
This operation follows heightened security measures in the region, particularly after the recent assault in Taftan, where armed militants attacked Iranian law enforcement personnel.
The Sistan-Baluchistan province borders both Pakistan and Afghanistan. Tensions in the area are longstanding, often erupting into clashes between Iranian security forces and local insurgents.
The area has seen repeated incidents, including an early October attack that left six people, including police officers, dead. Back then, Jaish al-Adl claimed responsibility for those attacks.
