Iran's Foreign Ministry: No Talks with P4+1 Next Week in Brussels
Iran's Foreign Ministry clarifies what Foreign Minister Hossein AmirAbdollahian was reported to have said in Parliament's closed session.
Iran's Foreign Ministry released a statement today, clarifying that there will be no negotiations next week with the P4+1 in Brussels; instead, the deputy foreign minister will visit the Belgian capital to continue dialogue with EU Lead Negotiator Enrique Mora.
This comes after statements released earlier today, in which AmirAbdollahian was reported to have said that Iran will resume the nuclear talks in Vienna next week, and that Tehran will adopt a "step by step" policy in the talks.
A senior US official had earlier announced that the US is "hopeful we can be back in Vienna (for talks)... in a fairly short period of time," following statements from Iran that paralleled his.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry had announced that Iran is looking forward to resuming the Vienna talks before November, after they were halted in June.
The powers that are still party to the agreement began talks in Vienna this year, along with indirect US participation, after US President Joe Biden expressed his will to bring his country back to the deal. Six rounds of talks were conducted between April and June.
