Iran will return to Vienna negotiations "Within Weeks"
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh stated that he assumes "in a few weeks we are in a position to set a date with our friends in Europe... Then possibly we can start negotiations in Vienna."
On Thursday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh confirmed that his country's new government will decide in the coming weeks on a date to return to nuclear talks in Vienna.
Khatibzadeh announced that in a few weeks the Iranian government will be "in a position to set a date with our friends in Europe...Then possibly we can start negotiations in Vienna."
He stressed, during a statement in the Normandy for Peace forum at the French city of Caen that the Iranian government is "not going to waste even a minute to get back to Vienna." The spokesman added that the government will join the seventh round of negotiations once it analyzes in detail the previous six rounds, adding that this analytical work will be completed "maybe in a few days, less than a few weeks."
Amirabdollahian US and Europe need to return to JCPOA
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said that negotiations will resume "very soon."
In September the first, Abdollahian stressed, during a telephone conversation with his French counterpart, Jean-Yves Le Drian, the need for Europe and the United States to return to the JCPOA. He said that Washington is responsible for its withdrawal from the nuclear deal. Le Drian called for a quick return to negotiations.
In a related context, a senior US official revealed that the opportunity still exists for reviving the Iranian nuclear agreement, but Tehran has not yet put forward a date for resuming talks.
Six rounds of talks were held between Iran and international powers, including France, in Vienna during the period between April and June, in an attempt to revive the nuclear agreement.
