In light of the escalating developments in Syria, sources have informed Al Mayadeen of an anticipated tripartite meeting on Friday in Baghdad, involving the foreign ministers of Iraq, Iran, and Syria.
Al Mayadeen's sources reported that a tripartite meeting of the foreign ministers of Iraq, Iran, and Syria is scheduled to take place in Baghdad on Friday, coinciding with the anticipated visit of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to Baghdad on the same day.
The meeting comes in response to the escalating developments in Syria.
Earlier today, the head of the Popular Mobilization Forces, Faleh al-Fayyad, confirmed from the western Ninawa operations area in northern Iraq that security preparedness along the Iraq-Syria border has been elevated.
In this regard, Al Mayadeen’s correspondent reported the deployment of military reinforcements along the border, extending as far as the center of al-Qaim district.
Al-Fayyad affirmed that Iraqi military commanders have stated the forces are fully prepared and operating according to planned strategies, with high morale and excellent readiness among the fighters stationed at the border.
On Wednesday, al-Fayyad confirmed the full readiness of the PMF and Iraqi security forces to confront terrorist groups.
Speaking from Ninawa Province, he said, "The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces has ordered that all necessary resources be provided to support the security forces, who are committed to the country's safety and stability," pledging that Iraq "will remain secure and stable."
Earlier, Araghchi and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty reiterated their nations' unwavering commitment to preserving Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity amidst a renewed wave of terrorism. The conversation, which took place on Wednesday night, highlighted the growing concerns over the destabilizing impact of terrorist groups in the region.
Araghchi briefed Abdelatty on the outcomes of his recent visits to Damascus and Ankara, where he engaged in discussions with Syrian and Turkish officials. He reaffirmed Iran's steadfast support for the Syrian government, its armed forces, and its people in their battle against terrorism.
