Iraq calls for regional action against Israeli genocide in Gaza
The Iraqi government is advocating for a coordinated effort among Arab, Islamic, and regional entities, both at the grassroots and official levels, to stop the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza.
The Iraqi government on Wednesday called for responsible Arab, Islamic, and regional mobilization at both popular and official levels to halt the genocide being committed by "Israel" in the Gaza Strip.
Iraqi government spokesperson Basem Al-Awadi said that the mobilization aims to put an end to the disregard for international and humanitarian norms and to prevent a full-blown war in the region.
The mobilization also aims to prevent the region from being irresponsibly dragged into an endless cycle of violence, as per Al-Awadi.
Additionally, the Iraqi government praised the recognition of the State of Palestine by several countries in response to some international powers that either supported or remained silent about Israeli aggression, continuing to justify war crimes.
Following the International Court of Justice's issuance of an order for the Israeli occupation to halt its military attacks on Rafah on Saturday, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani welcomed the decision, affirming that it mirrors the world's conscience.
Meanwhile, Hayder Shiya al-Barrak, Iraq's representative at the ICJ, emphasized that the Israeli occupation "commits numerous violations of international law principles and must be held accountable," stressing efforts to support the Palestinian people before the court.
Day 236 of Israeli aggression: 36,171 killed, 81,420 injured in Gaza
Israeli occupation forces committed six massacres against Palestinian families in Gaza in 24 hours, killing 75 Palestinians and injuring 284 others, as per Gaza's Ministry of Health.
Many victims remain under the rubble and on the streets as the IOF deliberately prevents ambulances and civil defense crews from reaching them.
This brings the total number of Palestinians killed by the Israeli occupation since October 7 to 36,171 and those injured to 81,420, the Ministry added.
It is believed that these numbers are nowhere near the true number of victims of "Israel's" genocidal war in Gaza, as Palestinian healthcare authorities face significant challenges in accurately tallying the number of martyrs wounded and individuals dying beneath the rubble.
