Iraq visit conveys a strong message to 'Israel': Al-Nakhalah
PIJ Secretary-General Ziyad Al-Nakhalah and his accompanying delegation tackled the latest developments in the Palestinian, regional, and international arenas with top Iraqi officials.
PIJ Secretary-General Ziyad Al-Nakhalah told Al Mayadeen that the significance of the movement's visit to Iraq is that it comes as a response to the Israeli attacks on Al-Aqsa mosque.
This comes as a delegation of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement visits Baghdad on Wednesday at the invitation of top Iraqi officials.
"The presence of the Islamic Jihad in Iraq is a strong message that carries clear implications in terms of Iraq's position in support of our people and their resistance," Al-Nakhalah added.
The top Palestinian figure acknowledged that "the visit is a clear message that Iraq stands with the Palestinian people and their resistance," stressing that Baghdad "is also highly influential in the region and carries a strong message to Israel regarding Iraq's support for Palestine."
"We are at the height of the challenge and we feel the importance of the unity of the resistance against Israel, and the importance of the official Arab position, which is now being reflected in the official position of Iraq with its siding with the Palestinian people," he said.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Al-Nakhalah also expressed his great pleasure at meeting the Iraqi President, Prime Minister, and top officials.
Earlier, former Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi stressed, while receiving Al-Nakhalah in Baghdad, that Iraq and its people consider themselves an indivisible part of the Palestinian struggle, highlighting his country's role in unifying fronts in the path of liberating Palestine and other occupied Arab lands.
During the meeting, Al-Nakhalah and his accompanying delegation tackled the latest developments on the Palestinian, regional, and international arena with Iraqi officials.
Media reports stated that Al-Nakhalah will deliver a speech during the Quds Day rallies on Friday in Baghdad. It is worth noting that Al-Quds Day is a day to show support for the Palestinian cause and to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people in face of the barbaric Israeli occupation of their land.
