Iraqi armed forces eliminate 7 ISIS terrorists in Saladin
The Iraqi armed forces have launched yet another successful operation against ISIS militants in the Saladin government, killing seven terrorists.
The Iraqi armed forces neutralized seven ISIS terrorists in the northern governorate of Saladin, spokesperson for the Iraqi armed forces Yehia Rasool said Wednesday.
Rasool said the Air Force command launched a successful strike using thermal imaging cameras, eliminating five terrorists in the Sabiat area.
"After extensive tracking by the Saladin operational command brigade and observation using thermal imaging cameras, the Air Force command launched a successful strike, during which five terrorists were eliminated in the Sabiat area," he said on Twitter.
"After that, ground forces arrived at the scene and killed two terrorists. In total, seven ISIS terrorists were eliminated," Rasool added.
At the end of 2017, the Iraqi authorities announced their victory over the terrorist group. However, it continues to identify and eliminate "sleeper cells" of terror groups in certain areas.
The Security Media Cell in Iraq announced late last month that the country’s National Security was able to target a terrorist cell in Hawi Al-Azeem within the Diyala Operations Sector.
The cell indicated that nine terrorists were killed after they were targeted in the area in Diyala with three airstrikes.
