Iraqi Candidate Al-Hardan Dismissed from Position For Attending Normalization Conference
The Sahwa Movement (Awakening Movement) of Iraq announced the dismissal of Wissam al-Hardan from his position.
On Monday, the Iraq Sahwa Movement (Awakening Movement) announced the dismissal of Wissam al-Hardan from the Presidency and announced that Sheikh Muhammad Ali Suleiman would be his successor.
Al-Hardan was dismissed for attending the normalization with "Israel" conference in Erbil on Sunday.
On Saturday, the Iraqi government expressed its firm rejection of the "illegal" meetings that were held by some tribal figures in the city of Erbil in the Kurdistan Region, which called for the normalization with "Israel."
For its part, Iraqi Kurdistan's Ministry of Interior announced in a statement that the meeting, which witnessed calls for normalization ties with "Israel," was held without its knowledge and approval, stressing that it does not express the government's position. It also added that the necessary measures will be taken to follow up the situation.
Earlier, the Media Center of the Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq announced that the al-Karkh First Investigation Court issued arrests warrants against Wissam al-Hardan and several others for their role in calling for normalization with "Israel”.
