Iraqi MP initiates proposal to halt subsidized oil exports to Jordan
Iraqi MP Mustafa Jabbar Sanad said the measures serve to "preserve the dignity" of Iraq, as well as "protect the lives of our men, our pride, and our national sovereignty."
On Saturday, Iraqi MP Mustafa Jabbar Sanad declared that he had collected signatures from legislators to propose a resolution suspending subsidized oil shipments to Jordan. This campaign is in response to US bombings in western Iraq, which Sanad believes was carried out with Jordanian assistance.
According to CENTCOM, US forces struck more than 85 targets in Iraq and Syria with numerous aircraft, including long-range bombers that were said to have taken off from the United States.
Sanad expressed that he gathered signatures from parliamentarians "to issue a parliamentary resolution requiring the Ministry of Oil to halt the sale of subsidized oil to Jordan."
These measures serve to "preserve the dignity" of Iraq, Sanad elaborated, as well as to "protect the lives of our men, our pride, and our national sovereignty."
The declaration was accompanied by a paper signed by MP Sanad that provided a link to a list of signatures from lawmakers asking that an item be added to the agenda of the future session of Parliament.
This item calls for a vote on a resolution requiring the Ministry of Oil to stop supplying crude oil at the subsidized price to Jordan as a result of its involvement in recent assaults on Iraq.
Notably, the Iraqi Parliament has already requested a stop to oil shipments to Jordan. Zainab Al-Mousawi, a Parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee member, earlier remarked that Jordan's attitudes on Iraq were "consistently hostile," particularly toward the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF).
The most recent official figures of the Iraqi Oil Marketing Company (SOMO) revealed that the median cost of exported crude oil to Jordan was $75.5 per barrel in October.
It is worth noting that Iraqi oil shipments to Jordan have climbed to around 15,000 bpd under a revised agreement from the previous contract.
Iraqi Resistance drone strikes US occupation base in Syria
The Islamic Resistance in Iraq issued Saturday a statement saying its fighters attacked a US occupation forces base in Syria in continuation of its response to the US aggression on Iraq on Friday.
The Iraqi Resistance said its fighters launched drone strikes at the Kharab al-Jir base in Syria, possibly in response to the US aggression on Iraq overnight Friday.
The Iraqi al-Nujaba Resistance movement on Saturday condemned the US aggression on Iraq, saying the airstrikes were "yet another violation by the US occupation forces of Iraq's sovereignty and dignity, which martyred dozens of Iraqis."
A security source of the Iranian Advisory Center in Syria affirmed that the "aggression on Iraq and Syria is a blatant violation of sovereignty and aggression on these countries' soil," following US strikes on several of the countries' facilities.
In a statement to UNews, the source explicitly condemned the aggression and rejected the falsities it is based on, stressing that it will have grave consequences on the presence of US forces in the region, and will attract additional retaliation against this aggressive behavior.
The source added that the targeting of these facilities confirms that the US occupation in both countries is working for its own security interests and those of the occupation entity, which makes it an actual occupying force. It also affirms that the US must leave the region at all costs because it has caused instability and created chaos.
