Iraq's newly elected Parliament resumed its first session headed by Khalid Al Darraji after transferring the elderly member Mahmoud Al Mashhadani to the hospital.
The Coordination Framework appealed for the Parliament's largest bloc, presenting a list of 88 MPs, reported Shafaq news agency.
Al Mashhadani launched the newly elected Parliament's first session in the presence of 325 deputies, before falling ill, and the session will be adjourned for deliberation, according to Al Mayadeen's correspondent.
Iraqi media reported that Al Mashhadani was injured as a result of a stampede between members of different parliamentary blocs.
Sources revealed to Al Mayadeen that the head of the State of Law coalition Nuri Al Maliki, the Secretary-General of the Asa'ib Ahl Al Haq movement Qais Khazali, and the head of the Al Fatah Alliance Hadi Al Amiri, arrived at Ibn Sina Hospital to check on Mahmoud Al Mashhadani's health.
