IRGC adds new military vessels to its fleet
Islamic Revolution Guard Corps Navy unveils new locally manufactured military vessels equipped with air defense systems.
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy added three new military vessels to its fleet on Monday, among them a patrol combat warship fitted with air defense missiles with a vertical launching system.
On Monday, a ceremony was held in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas to officially hand over the new vessels to the IRGC Navy.
Two missile-launching speedboats with the names of IRGC Navy martyrs Rouhi and Dara are among the homegrown ships, along with an advanced patrol combat warship bearing the name of Lt. General Qassem Soleimani.
The multi-hulled Martyr Soleimani warship is equipped to transport helicopters. It can also discharge VTOL drones and many types of strike speedboats into the water.

The patrol combat warship is the first Iranian military vessel to be fully equipped with air defense missiles with a vertical launching system that can fire mid- and short-range missiles, according to remarks made at the event by Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces.
The commander pointed out that the warship can cruise through oceans and rough seas for a variety of activities since its hull material uses stealth technology building techniques with a low radar cross-section.
He stated that the new Soleimani warship, with four potent domestically developed engines, is capable of completing long-distance naval missions without the use of shore resupply.
The IRGC commander stated last month that the IRGC Navy has been told to increase its presence in remote waters.
The IRGC Navy is becoming a significant force in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and beyond, according to Major General Hossein Salami.
IRGC making speedboats equipped with stealth systems to avoid radars
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy Commander Rear Admiral Ali Reza Tangsiri revealed on July 25, that the newly manufactured speedboats have been equipped with stealth systems to avoid radars.
On the sidelines of an academic conference in Tehran, Tangsiri pointed out that his forces have utilized new stealth speedboats.
The Rear Admiral said the IRGC Navy takes advantage of homegrown hulls, adding that the Navy proudly uses equipment manufactured by domestic knowledge-based companies.
The high-ranking commander explained that the IRGC Navy’s new advanced warship with unique features is a multi-hulled watercraft.
It is noteworthy that in November 2021, Tangsiri said the IRGC Navy would be equipped with three new warships, including a homegrown vessel launching missiles with a range of 300 kilometers.
In December, Tangsiri said that the speed of the IRGC Navy boats has been increased from 55 knots to 75 and 90 knots and will reach 110 knots in the future.
