IRGC defends against notorious armed bandit group in Iran
The IRGC's Ground Force announced that they clashed with a number of notorious bandits in southeast Iran, killing 6, including their leader.
Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said on Saturday that its forces killed six armed bandits in Sistan and Baluchistan Province, in the country's southeast.
The IRGC Ground Force's Quds Base announced in a statement that its soldiers have managed to detect a hideout of a number of notorious armed bandits in Sistan and Baluchistan Province's Kurin district, by closely monitoring them and following a number of intelligence operations.
The operation is an extremely important one, as one of the bandits, named Gholam Shahbakhsh, was especially known around the region alongside his brother Mehrab and their gang, and had clashed with IRGC patrols before.
Mehrab, who had been implicated in the murder of two IRGC soldiers before, was killed in a clash on Saturday, along with two others from his band, while his brother ran away. Gholam was tracked and was killed in a clash with IRGC soldiers, along with five others.
Three IRGC soldiers fell in today's confrontations.
Iran's Revolution Guards Corps regularly conducts operations in Sistan and Baluchistan Province, which borders Pakistan and Afghanistan, to combat drug and human traffickers, as well as terrorist takfiri forces active in the region.
