Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) intelligence forces successfully dismantled an anti-revolutionary terrorist group that had been plotting assassinations in the southeastern province of Kerman.
Ebrahim Hamidi, head of the provincial judiciary office, revealed on Saturday that the operatives, affiliated with pro-monarchy elements, were apprehended following meticulous surveillance efforts.
The arrested individuals were found to be in communication with hostile entities and foreign-based anti-Iran media outlets.
Over the past year, they reportedly engaged in various activities aimed at destabilizing security, including attacks on facilities, vandalism, distributing anti-Islamic Republic leaflets, and sending videos to foreign-based TV channels.
Ties to pro-monarchy leaders
According to Hamidi, the terrorist team received directives from pro-monarchy leaders and was actively involved in armed activities.
The group had specifically planned to assassinate a provincial security chief in Kerman Province and target members of the morality police. The IRGC forces successfully foiled their plot and apprehended the perpetrators.
This recent operation comes on the heels of another successful intervention by Iranian intelligence forces in late September. The forces thwarted a plot to carry out multiple terrorist bombing attacks in the capital, Tehran, arresting numerous individuals associated with the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group.
The Iranian Intelligence Ministry released a statement announcing that they foiled a plan involving 30 simultaneous bombing attacks on populous areas of Tehran.
The purpose of these attacks was to undermine Iran's security, create a false image of instability, instill fear in society, and provoke chaos and protests, strategically timed to coincide with the anniversary of the previous year's foreign-backed riots, Iranian media reported.
