IRGC Reveals New Details on Face-off with US Navy
The Commander of the IRGC's Navy Forces denies that the US forces were only monitoring the IRGC's retrieval of the tanker in the Oman Sea region.
The Commander of the IRGC's Navy, Commodore Alireza Tangsiri, announced during a ceremony held by the IRGC's Chief Commander to honor Navy commanders, that the US' claims of monitoring the situation in the Oman Sea region are a "great lie".
He added, commenting on the IRGC foiling a US attempt to steal the cargo of an Iranian fuel tanker, that the distance between the US' ships and Iran's Navy forces was "less than 30 meters," adding that the footage that was released clearly reflects the truth of the undeniable confrontation.
Iranian state TV broadcasted footage last Wednesday of the IRGC's operation, wherein it prevented a US frigate from interfering, forcing it to withdraw.
Tangsiri continued that if the US only wanted to monitor, then they could have done so remotely, or used drones, adding that US ships closed in on the scene in a show of strength around the tanker after IRGC forces landed on the ship.
The US, he noted, tried to intimidate Iran's forces by sending three ships to the operations theater, attempting to turn the tide in their favor.
In a related context, Iran released this morning a Vietnamese ship that had been detained since October 24, after unloading its cargo.
