IRGC vows response to Israeli aggression on consulate inevitable
The Iranian ambassador to Cuba tells Al Mayadeen that the Palestinian cause concerns all the free people of the world and not only Islamic nations.
The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) affirmed on Saturday that it will carry out the national Iranian demand of "punishing" the Israeli occupation and "its supporters" and make them "regret their crime" of targeting the Iranian consulate in Syria, which resulted in the martyrdom of several of the group's senior officials.
The group also declared that a response to the Israeli terrorist aggression is certain and imminent.
Mass rallies were held across Iran on Friday to celebrate the International al-Quds Day, which lies on the last Friday of every month of holy Ramadan.
The IRGC hailed the massive participation of the Iranian nation in the marches and expressed gratitude to their people for showing support for the oppressed Palestinians.

A global cause
In a similar vein, Iran's Ambassador to Cuba, Seyyed Mohammad Hadi Sobhani, affirmed that the Islamic Republic will not leave the Israeli aggression on the consulate without a response.
Talking to Al Mayadeen, Sobhani emphasized that the occupation entity violated in its attack international agreements regarding the protection of all diplomatic facilities.
The Iranian diplomat said that over the past seventy years, the "racist Israeli regime has been waging a genocidal war and committing all humanitarian crimes and racial discrimination against the Palestinian people, with full support from the United States."
On International al-Quds Day, he highlighted that it stands as a significant and invaluable initiative initiated by the Leader of the Revolution, the late Sayyed Ruhollah Khomeini, in defense of Palestine.
On that note, Sobhani stressed that the Palestinian cause is not only a matter concerning Islamic countries or countries in the Middle East but has become an international cause, citing the stance of the free and independent Latin American countries and their governments that supported the Palestinian peoples' cause.
Regarding relations between Cuba and Iran, he explained that over the past 45 years, there have been excellent political relations, but 2023 was an exceptional year, as June 2023 witnessed the visit of the Iranian President to Cuba, followed by Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel's visit to Tehran.
Rapdily crumbling
Last Sunday, an Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus led to the martyrdom of the commander of the Quds Force in Lebanon and Syria, General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, and Brigadier General Mohammad-Hadi Haji-Rahimi, as well as IRGC officers Hossein Amanollahi, Seyyed Mehdi Jalalati, Mohsen Sadaghat, Ali Agha Babaei, and Seyyed Ali Salehi Rouzbahani.
On Tuesday, Sayyed Ali Khamenei said that the Israeli occupation will not be able to avoid its defeat by resorting to "desperate acts" like the airstrike it carried out on the Iranian consulate in Syria.
The leader emphasized that the Zionist regime will eventually "come close to collapse and dissolution. Desperate attempts like the actions the regime committed in Syria will not save them from defeat," vowing that they will certainly "be slapped for these acts."

He further affirmed, "Our courageous men will exact punishment upon the evil regime. We will ensure they regret this and other crimes, with the will of God."
During the rally for International al-Quds Day in Tehran, a procession was held for the Iranian martyrs.
Addressing the event, the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Major General Hossein Salami echoed Sayyed Khamenei's position and vowed that Iran will make "Israel" regret its crime.
Pledging to avenge the martyrs, Salami said, "Our brave men will punish the Zionist regime and the regime cannot escape from the seditions it creates," stressing that no crime will go unanswered.
"The Zionist regime is like a dagger that the satanic British regime stabbed the body of the Islamic nation with 75 years ago," Salami said, adding that should the United States and Western nations halt their support for "Israel", the occupation would rapidly crumble.
