A Palestinian citizen from the town of Kfar Yasif in the 1948 occupied Palestinian territories was killed after an Israeli interceptor missile landed in the Nahariya settlement in northern occupied Palestine, Nihad Abu Ghosh, the director of the Al-Masar Studies Center, revealed to Al Mayadeen on Sunday.

According to Abu Ghosh, an autopsy showed that the fragment that caused his death was from an Iron Dome interceptor missile.

In contrast, he pointed out that the Israeli occupation authorities refused to conduct autopsies on the bodies of the 12 people who were killed in the town of Majdal Shams in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights on July 27.

Abu Ghosh told Al Mayadeen that the incident in Nahariya confirms that the martyrs in Majdal Shams were killed due to the Iron Dome's failure and the impact of one of its interceptor missiles.

On August 6, 2024, the Israeli occupation confirmed that several people were injured in Nahariya after one of its interceptor missiles failed to intercept several targets launched from Lebanon and hit the ground. Meanwhile, Israeli media reported that 17 people were injured in the incident.

Abu Ghosh emphasized that the incident indicates that the massacre in Majdal Shams -- which "Israel" quickly blamed on Hezbollah -- involved a similar Iron Dome interceptor missile that fell in Nahariya due to its failure to intercept Hezbollah's rockets and drones.

On August 1, Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah denied allegations that the Lebanese Resistance group was behind the Majdal Shams incident.

He indicated that Hezbollah would have acknowledged any mistake leading to civilian casualties and suggested that an Israeli interceptor missile might have caused the incident.

Sayyed Nasrallah accused the Israeli occupation of deliberately orchestrating the rocket attack to provide a pretext for the assassination of Resistance commanders.

"We have a great deal of evidence that shows missiles launched by Israeli systems have frequently hit the city of Akka and other areas in the occupied territories," he added.

The Israeli occupation military said it assassinated top Hezbollah commander Sayyed Fouad Shokor (Hajj Mohsen) in Beirut's southern suburbs, claiming that the martyr was responsible for the Majdal Shams rocket strike.
