IS-K claims responsibility for the attack near Afghan MFA in Kabul
IS-K claims responsibility for an explosion near the Afghan Foreign Ministry in the capital, Kabul, which claimed the lives of over 20 Afghans.
ISIS-K claimed, on Thursday, its responsibility for the bombing that killed at least 20 people near the Afghan Foreign Ministry in Kabul the day before.
The terror organization said in a statement that "Khaybar Al-Kandahari detonated his explosive vest while among the employees and guards of the ministry as they left the main gate."
As of yet, there has been no response from the Taliban government regarding the organization's claims.
"The explosion killed 5 civilians and wounded several others near the ministry," Khaled Zadran, a spokesperson for the Kabul police, said on Wednesday.
The Amaq News Agency, an ISIS-affiliated media outlet, said that the attack "coincided with a training course organized by the ministry for diplomats."
There have been dozens of blasts and attacks targeting civilians since the Taliban movement returned to power in August 2021 after the hasty US withdrawal from the country, most claimed by the local chapter of the ISIS-K terrorist organization.
In early October, the United Nations' mission in Afghanistan announced that a suicide bombing that occurred in late September at an education center in the Afghan capital resulted in 43 deaths.
