'Israel' axed Oslo Accords, upcoming period eventful: Hamas
Al-Qassam brigades Commander-in-Chief Marwan Issa addresses the situation in the West Bank and warns against any changes to the status quo surrounding Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Israeli occupation, through its practices, axed the Oslo Accords, and the political strategy has been brought to an end in the West Bank, said Marwan Issa, the Commander-in-Chief of Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Hamas movement.
"The enemy ended [the] Oslo [Accords], and the upcoming days will be highly eventful," Issa told the Al-Aqsa Palestinian TV channel.
The Oslo Accords, known as the Declaration of Principles on Interim Self-Government Arrangements, were signed in Washington, DC, on September 13, 1993, between the Israeli occupation and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).
Oslo stipulates the realization of a settlement that starts off with the establishment of an interim self-rule for the Palestinian Authority, and ends in 1999 with the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
Issa also warned that any changes to the status quo of the Al-Aqsa mosque would lead to chaos in the whole region.
Allowing for opportunities for resistance in the West Bank [to grow] does not mean that it would be abandoned [elsewhere], and it does not mean that Gaza will stand idle, the Palestinian military leader said, stressing that "we will fiercely defend our people when direct intervention is required."
He also highlighted the need for the proliferation and financial, moral, and media backing of the resistance all over Palestine. The Al-Qassam Brigades pave the way for the resistance in the occupied West Bank and occupied Al-Quds, "because they are of high strategic value, and they will witness a lot of action in the upcoming stage."
Finally, Issa stressed the need for Al-Qassam Brigades to continue accumulating strength and building a resistance strategy that would culminate in liberation."
Daily killings an all-out war
This comes after Israeli media reported Sunday that "the occupation forces assassinated three Palestinians at the Jit junction, west of Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank," while the military correspondent for the Israeli Army Radio said the occupation forces "killed three Resistance fighters at dawn today and arrested a fourth."
The IOF claimed that the three Palestinians carried out a shooting operation targeting a military post near Jit, west of Nablus, and a force from the Golani Brigade returned fire, as per Israeli media.
The murder of three Palestinians comes in the wake of a campaign of brutal raids and incursions across the occupied West Bank and Al-Quds.
Earlier, Israeli occupation forces, in huge numbers, stormed the Askar refugee camp in Nablus and arrested three Palestinian brothers, Khaled, Abed, and Qassam Kharrousha, after besieging their house in the city. The IOF took the brothers to an unknown destination.
At the time, the spokesperson for the Palestinian Presidency, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, said that "the daily killings committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people, the latest of which took place today in the Jenin camp, is an all-out war and amount to a full-scale systematic destruction."
Since the beginning of the year, the IOF conducted near-daily nightly raids in the occupied West Bank, which left at least 77 Palestinian martyrs, not to mention an uptick in settlers' violence.
The last time the Oslo Accords were mentioned in such a pessimistic manner was by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, who delivered a speech to the United Nations General Assembly in September, in which he attacked the Israeli occupation and its crimes against the Palestinian people, and sharply criticized the United Nations for "protecting Israel from punishment."
At the beginning of the speech, Abbas reiterated the emphasis on "adhering to the Hashemite guardianship over the holy sites in Occupied Palestine", and said that the Palestinian Authority "will deal with Israel as an occupying state."
The Palestinian President explained, while holding photos of massacres and attacks carried out by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people, that "the latest Israeli massacres was the attack on Gaza with bombs," adding, "We now call on the international community to hold Israel accountable for its crimes and we will go to the (International) Criminal Court."
"Palestinian people are the only ones left on the face of the earth under occupation... Why? We do not accept that we remain the only party that adheres to the agreements we signed with Israel in 1993." Abbas said, adding, "The Oslo accords no longer exist on the ground (in practice), because of Israel's unilateral violations of them."
