The Israeli occupation forces released Monday the director of Al-Aqsa mosque in occupied Al-Quds, Sheikh Omar Al-Kiswani, after interrogating him for an hour following detention that it did not provide any reason for.
"Sheikh Omar Al-Kiswani was released, and he is at his office now," a source in the Islamic Endowments Department in occupied Al-Quds reported.
Israeli occupation forces raided Al-Kiswani's home in Al-Tur neighborhood, occupied Al-Quds, and arrested him without providing any reason for the detention.
The occupation police seized Kiswani’s laptop and other documents from his home after thoroughly searching and ransacking it.
Al-Kiswani was detained several times before by the IOF, and he was said to have been threatened by an Israeli officer over his statements in the media that highlighted violations committed by Israeli settlers, as well as his defense of Al-Aqsa mosque.
"The goal of the arrest is sending a message to the endowments, the people of Al-Quds, and the Palestinian people in general," Al-Kaswani's brother, Abdullah, said on Monday.
