Israeli occupation authorities decided to extend the detention of Jordanian Member of Parliament, Imad Al-Adwan, for 8 additional days, after being held on suspicion of allegedly smuggling arms and gold from Jordan to the West Bank, through the King Hussein Bridge, the military court of "Ofer" announced on Sunday.

35-year-old Al-Adwan, who is also Jordan's youngest MP, was arrested by Israeli occupation forces for allegedly smuggling weapons through the Karama crossing.

On Tuesday, the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the Kingdom's Ambassador to "Tel Aviv", Ghassan Majali, met with Al-Adwan to ensure that the MP was given his legal rights and receiving humane treatment in Israeli prisons.

Sinan Majali, a spokesperson for the Jordanian Foreign Ministry revealed that the Jordanian Ambassador spoke with Al-Adwan and discussed the details of his arrest, as well as the investigatory procedures he was subjected to.

The official also pointed to the extensive efforts that the Foreign Ministry has undertaken to ensure that investigations are carried out under the rules set out by international conventions, which ensure the safety of the MP.

The National Committee for Jordanian Prisoners and Missing Persons in Occupation Prisons condemned the arrest of Al-Adwan. In its statement, the Committee called on the Jordanian government to use its authority to release Al-Adwan and 19 Jordanian prisoners.

The statement also reaffirmed the right of the Palestinian people and reiterated the Committee's support for the Palestinian Resistance. The organization also called for the fate of the 34 prisoners missing in occupied Palestine to be revealed

Israeli Foreign Minister, Eli Cohen, announced on Monday that Al-Adwan will be tried in Israeli courts, to which Jordanians responded: we do not recognize "Israel" and its courts.

Al-Adwan clan of Jordan issued a statement on Sunday, demanding that the MP be freed from occupation prisons as soon as possible. The clan also called on the Parliament members and popular movements in Jordan to push for the release of Al-Adwan from imprisonment.
