Israeli forces detain cancer-stricken woman, 24 others in West Bank
Ransacking homes and assaulting Palestinians, Israeli occupation forces have detained more than two dozen Palestinians overnight.
Israeli occupation forces (IOF) detained at least 25 Palestinians from the occupied West Bank, including a woman from the Gaza Strip, a child, and a wounded man, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported on Sunday, citing the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) and the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs.
The PPS and the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees said in a joint statement that Israeli occupation forces mainly targeted citizens in al-Khalil Governorate, while others were detained in Qalqilya, Beit Lahm, Jenin, Tulkarm, Ramallah, and al-Quds.
The IOF also physically assaulted and harassed several Palestinians, threatening some detainees with the lives of their families and forcing them to turn themselves in in exchange for their families' safety.
Israeli forces also ransacked and damaged several Palestinian homes across the West Bank.
A cancer-stricken woman was also detained as she headed to a hospital in the city of al-Quds to receive treatment, the statement reported.
Since October 7, 2023, occupation forces have detained a total of 7,630 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank alone, according to the two detainees-concerned organizations.
Al-Khalil operation marks continued Resistance
On Saturday, Israeli occupation forces stormed the neighborhood in which the home of a martyred Palestinian is located. The man targeted the Israeli "Gush Etzion" settlement north of al-Khalil with an assault rifle on Friday.
IOF stormed the vicinity of the family home of martyr Sheikh Mahmoud Nofal who carried out the attack in the Old City of al-Khalil.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent in occupied Palestine reported an armed confrontation between a Palestinian Resistance fighter and IOF in the old town of al-Khalil, following reports of a Resistance operation in the area.
Operations targeting Israeli troops and settlers have seen a rise following the commencement of the Holy Month of Ramadan, as Palestinians respond to the calls of Resistance leaders and factions. This comes after the Israeli occupation launched a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip and killed nearly 500 Palestinians in the West Bank alone.
