Israeli occupation forces killed a Palestinian youth while trying to suppress a protest commemorating the 76th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba on the eastern entry of the town of al-Bireh.

Security sources from the Palestinian agency Al-Wafa reported the martyrdom of Aysar Mohammad al-Safi, 20, a student at Birzeit University from the al-Jalzoun camp in eastern Ramallah, after being shot in the neck by the IOF.

The sources further reported that clashes erupted between Palestinians and occupation forces, which prompted the latter to fire gas and sound bombs causing tens of cases of suffocation among Palestinian youth.

This came after Israeli forces raided several districts across the occupied West Bank, such as Ramallah, al-Beera, Beit Lahm, and Qalqilya, in the early hours of Wednesday.

In occupied al-Quds, occupation forces raided the towns of Hazma and Anata, as well as the al-Ersal neighborhood in al-Bireh, the town of Birzeit north of Ramallah, the town of Azzun in Qalqilya, the cities of Tulkam and Nablus, the town of Husan in Beit Lahm, and raided several Palestinian homes.

Conference to recognize Palestinian state shifts to gradual steps

Israeli occupation forces have escalated their violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank in recent years, especially since the beginning of the genocidal war on Gaza last October. Towns and cities in the West Bank endure daily raids, alongside extensive detention campaigns, resulting in an increase in the number of martyrs and injuries as a result of confrontations with the occupation forces.

HRW: 'Israel' executes Palestinians in West Bank unlawfully

The IOF have unlawfully used lethal force in assaults on Palestinians in the West Bank, murdering Palestinians who posed no obvious security danger, confirmed a report by Human Rights Watch.

According to evidence of multiple occurrences dating back to 2022, Human Rights Watch reported that "unlawfully used lethal force in fatal shootings of Palestinians in the West Bank."

Richard Weir, senior crisis and conflict researcher at HWR, said the murders are occurring "at a level without recent precedent" since the IOF have no fears their government will hold them accountable.

“Israeli security forces are not just unlawfully killing Palestinians in Gaza, but have been killing Palestinians without a legal basis in the West Bank, including deliberately executing Palestinians who posed no apparent threat,” Weir added.

According to the organization, the research that reached this conclusion was conducted based on an investigation into eight murders in four events between July 2022 and October 2023.

On November 29, 2023, Adam, eight, and Basil, 15, were killed while playing in the road. Footage showed an Israeli occupation convoy passing by Adam, standing in the street with his elder brother, Baha, 14, and nine other minors.
