Israeli media: Bennett might have visited UAE to stop rapprochement with Iran
Abu Dhabi's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomes Israeli PM Naftali Bennett on Monday for the first time after normalization between the two sides.
According to Haaretz, "Israel’s" ambassador to the UAE said that “the Iranian issue was on the table of the negotiations, where the developments of the Iranian nuclear was discussed, especially that "Israel" had asked the US earlier this month to immediately halt the Vienna talks.”
Arab Affairs commentator in the Israeli channel 12, Ohad Hamo, said that “there are many factors that reflect the tense relations between several countries and the attempt by Saudi Arabia to be close to Iran, and if you ask how this can happen, the answer, in my opinion, is that this is due to the fear by these countries that the United States might leave them and abandon the region […] This is why we have recently seen parties in the UAE trying to be close to Iranians, and Bennett might have visited the UAE to stop this.”
Earlier, Bennett stated that “Israel” is "very worried" that world powers will remove sanctions on Iran in exchange for insufficient caps on its nuclear program.
Benett’s visit to Abu Dhabi comes in light of the resumption of the Vienna talks on the Iran nuclear deal.
UAE and Bahrain signed a normalization agreement with "Israel" on September 15, 2020, at the White House, in the presence of former US President Donald Trump. Likewise, Sudan and Morocco signed a similar agreement. Palestinians blasted the move as "stab in the back."
