Israeli Media: Gulf allies in a state of panic
After the Russian President launched a large-scale military operation in Ukraine, an Israeli researcher says that “Israel's” allies in the Gulf are in a "state of panic."
Ksenia Svetlova, an Israeli researcher at Mitvim Institute for Regional Foreign Policies, stated that Russia’s special military operation in Donbass has triggered panic and fear among Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Bahrain, not to mention “Israel’s” new regional allies.
The Israeli researcher went on to say, "They (the Gulf states) recognize that the US will not save them in the event of a conflict with Iran."
"In terms of Israel, there is also a growing fear that whoever was terrified or discouraged till now would not remain so when he sees what is happening in Ukraine," the researcher added.
Meanwhile, the Israeli media keep a close eye on the ongoing developments after Russian president Vladimir Putin ruled the authorization of a special military operation in Donbass.
Israeli Channel 13 said that Foreign Israeli Minister Yair Lapid stepped up the Israeli rhetoric against Russia, which was commensurate with the US-EU administrations, calling its military operation in Donbass “a grave violation of the international order.”
"Israel is in a very delicate position," the Israeli channel continued, adding that "Prime Minister Naftali Bennett's message will be formulated with great caution, because, after all, we are neighbors to Russia, and it is present on our northern border, with its advanced missile batteries, radars, and powerful GPS jamming."
In the same context, Eran Etzion, former deputy director of the National Security Council, discussed the influence of the Russian-Ukraine conflict on the Iranian nuclear talks, saying that "strategically, any agreement is a good agreement for Israel."
Iran's foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian stressed, on Wednesday, that a nuclear deal can be finalized in less than a few hours, and points out that any exact timing for the deal "is in the hands of the western side."
Etzion stressed that “Israel” has no option other than the US, adding that "anyone who believes Israel can deploy planes and destroy Iran without US consent is illusional."
"These are the dreadful facts that many Israelis do not admit," Etzion tersely concluded.
