Israeli Media: "Israel" and US Held Secret Talks on Iran
The Israeli Walla website has revealed that this is the first Iran-centric meeting since the formation of the new government.
Two high-ranking Israeli officials revealed to the Israeli Walla website that the US and "Israel" discussed an alternative plan towards Iran in case it does not resume nuclear negotiations.
The website added that this was the first meeting focused on Iran since the formation of the new government. Walla said that the decision to continue the "US-Israel" strategic forum's activities was taken by US President Joe Biden and Israeli PM Naftali Bennett during their recent White House meeting, where Biden pledged to never allow Iran to have nuclear weapons.
The site indicated that the Israeli side stressed the importance of an alternative plan, while the Americans revealed sanctions will return if there is no progress.
On his account, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian stated on Wednesday that his country is studying the outcome of previous negotiations and that the new government will resume negotiations.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh revealed that the Vienna negotiations will resume in the next few weeks, pointing out that the international group of P4+1 countries has been briefed on this matter.
