Israeli media: Possibility of military solution with Iran is slim
Israeli media reports the unlikelihood of military confrontation with Iran and the intentions of reaching an agreement in the Vienna Talks.
The Israeli Channel Seven website reported that the former Israeli Consul in New York, Alon Pinkas, expressed on official Army Radio that "Israel" prefers to reach an agreement with Iran.
The former Consul added that anyone who thinks the United States works for "Israel" and will go to war for its sake in the Middle East does not truly know the US.
"Israel" has no capability for a military option with Iran
Eldad Shavit, the former head of research in "Israel's" military intelligence, noted that the chance of military confrontation with Iran is slim, adding that Iran will try its best to reach an agreement in the Vienna Talks.
In an interview for i24 News, Shavit considered that despite the goodwill of the Iranians to reach a nuclear deal, he is unconvinced that European countries are reaching progress in negotiating.
Shavit touched on information from within "Israel" that a military option against Iran is being considered but then added that "Israel" does not yet possess the capability to do so.
Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak said “Israel” must understand that “Iran moved forward quickly in the direction of becoming a nuclear threshold state.”
On Sunday, the former Israeli Prime Minister told Channel 12 News, “I say with caution that it is not certain that Israel, nor the United States, currently has a viable practical plan, according to which, if you give the order you will wake up in the morning and Iran is three years away from nuclear weapons again."
In a related context, Yedioth Ahronoth reported on Sunday that Mossad Director David Barnea is headed the US to hold meetings in Washington concerning the nuclear talks.
Last week, Barnea personally pledged on behalf of the Mossad that "Iran will not have nuclear weapons – not in the coming years, not ever."
