Israeli Occupation Court Approves Seizing Land in Sheikh Jarrah
An Israeli occupation court rejects the appeal submitted by the rightful owners of a piece of land in the Sheikh Jarrah Neighborhood in occupied al-Quds.
The Israeli Supreme Court rejected an appeal submitted by Palestinian owners of a piece of land in the Sheikh Jarrah Neighborhood in occupied al-Quds against evacuating it in favor of the settlement groups and imposed a fine on them.
The Western Neighborhood Committee in Sheikh Jarrah stated that the Court's decision was related to a land that includes several amenities. It also indicated that the deadline for responding to the Israeli proposal regarding the issue of homes threatened with displacement is still valid until February 11.
In response, the Central Command of the Popular Resistance Committees in Palestine stated that the Court's decision reflects the occupation's acts of thuggery, adding that these acts have been legalized.
The Command stated that the legal cover used by the occupation to legislate its decisions does not cover the heinous crimes and abuse that the people of Sheikh Jarrah are being exposed to in occupied al-Quds.
It also clarified that the occupation courts engage in a racist role to legitimize the settlers' claims of land ownership and to "whitewash the forged identification papers they submit."
International institutions called for immediate action to maintain broad support to save Palestinian families from the danger of arbitrary displacement and end the Judaization of the city.
In its turn, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said that due to the absence of international sanctions, the Israeli occupation authorities were able to seize a 4,700 square meters Palestinian land in Sheikh Jarrah and evacuate resident Palestinians to build gardens for the occupation's municipality.
Twenty-eight Palestinian families in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of occupied al-Quds are facing the threat of eviction from the homes they have resided in since 1956.
