Israeli occupation leading plots in Syria, Iraq must act: Badr Chief
The Secretary-General of the Badr Organization warns of the repercussions of the Syrian conflict on Iraq's security, accusing "Israel" of playing a major role in Syria.
The Secretary-General of the Iraqi Badr Organization, Hadi al-Amiri, said the events in Syria were a "Turkish-Israeli conspiracy with the United States' blessing," stressing that the Israeli occupation was orchestrating a suspicious plot in Syria and the region.
During the "Sons of Mujahideen" festival, al-Amiri affirmed that if the Syrian crisis jeopardized Iraq's national security, then Iraq would have to fight in Syria. "Attacking is the better means of defense, and it is not right to continue observing escalations from Baghdad."
The Badr chief warned that Iraq could pay a heavy price if it does not take a decisive stance regarding what is happening in Syria.
Speaking on Turkey's role, al-Amiri said its statements regarding Gaza are entirely false, adding that in this context, Iraq must "take advantage of the magnitude of economic trade with Turkey, which has hit over 30 billion dollars."
On Tuesday, the Secretary-General met with Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid in Baghdad to discuss the latest developments in Syria.
The two sides discussed political and security developments both locally and regionally, particularly the escalating situation in Syria. They emphasized the need to rally international efforts to end the ongoing war in a way that preserves the security of the Syrian people and strengthens stability in the region.
The meeting also covered the general situation in the country, with an agreement to continue supporting the government in implementing its ministerial program and backing the legislation of laws that contribute to providing the best services to the Iraqi people, in all its components and segments.
